6’6” = 6’ 4” Having worked for the Paul H Young Co building rod for 17 years Starting in 1956 I belive this rod was the first Little Giant model built It does not have a serial number Meaning it was built befor 1955 Serial # started in 1955 The first Little Giant with a serial # was #2041 june 9 1956 There were only 9 rods made with serial mumbers This rod measures 6’4” The writing on the rod By Jack Young says 6’ 6” I belive this this rod was made 6’ 4” because of a measurimg mark error on the work bench I decovered this mistake in 1956 Mr. Young added 1” to the mark These marks were used to cut the glued up blanks to the right length befor installing the ferrules The rod Has 14/64 Super Z nickle silver ferrules One tip has a little darker heat treat I have steel wooled and gave rod a light varnish over coat And a new cork handle The Little Giant was designed for useing in northen michigan small cedar swamp streams 15Ft. or less This is were big brook trout live The Little Giant has back bone to keep a15” fish out of a brush jam I have lawn cast it and like it with a WF 5 It will cast 15 ft. or 50 ft. easy
